Thanks for taking an interest in Lark!

I created Lark in 2005, giving up a job in publishing to create a small business that would allow me to pursue my interests in crafting, collecting and shopping. The first products were all handmade by me using thrifted materials (this was in the 'old days' before Etsy and the craft renaissance!). Before long my designs were being stocked in some of London’s hippest stores.

The following year I moved with my young family from the UK to Daylesford, Country Victoria, near to my husband’s hometown. Together, Paul and I hatched a plan to create a new retail store in Australia inspired by the colourful, quirky appeal of our favourite stores in London, Amsterdam and Copenhagen, yet with a gentle, vintage Australian aesthetic that came about from our new life in a small country town.

The Lark online store was launched in 2007, and in 2009 we opened a shop in Daylesford. Our little shop quickly became a mecca for Lark lovers across Australia, and it has featured in many design magazines and blogs around the world, including Vogue, Mollie Makes, Real Living and the Design Files.

In 2011 we launched a party store within our website, once again pre-empting a major trend, and event styling supplies are now a key part of our range.

Today Lark is well-known for its broad and ever-changing collection of design-led gift and home products. Our designers range from small local makers through to iconic brands like Orla Kiely and Rice. Every product is obsessively sourced by me, on my daily search to find fresh new goodies for our customers to get excited about!

The next year will see some very exciting developments come to fruition at Lark, and I look forward to sharing these with you.
